I began playing with clay in the late 70's'in Melbourne and attended college to study ceramics for a short time. In 1982 I set up a small workshop in the garage and studied ceramics part-time in Adelaide for two years and started my first job in the field working as a production thrower in a large traditional pottery factory. After moving to the New South Wales Man id-North Coast in 1985 I began working as a studio potter. For the next 13 years I carried on as a studio potter, working in a craft co-operative, establishing the Bellinger River Pottery and wholesaling from my home pottery. At various times I worked as a production thrower for other potters in the region. I had been drawing in soft pastel and in 1996 I held an exhibition of drawings and ceramics. This exhibition broke the mold (the quite rigid and repetitive work of making functional pottery)  for me in that I ventured into creating ceramic art/sculptural forms complementing my drawings to tell my story of spiritual growth, transformation and and the reality of oneness, inspired by the Bahai Writings.

For the past 20 years I have lived in Barkandji Country in outback NSW,. I have potted part-time at my home, taught pottery part-time through TAFE and home, continued drawing on a ad-hoc basis and held a variety of jobs in my small home town. Last year I participated in an exhibition held as part of our small communities Celebration of the Bicentennial of the Birth of the Bab, the herald Prophet of the Bahai Faith.

During the past couple of years I've had the privilege contributing to getting a service project for our community of the ground with my wife and a close family friend.

I am expecting I will get into making some pots again sometime into the new year when the need arises. When I do I will have some interesting and unique works for sale too.
